PSP in Education

Introducing PSP into the family and community is only the beginning of a process. Establishing the Prime Directive of the Human Family will require continued reinforcement of early childhood socialization and continued modeling of the attitudes and behaviors that emerge when the Prime Directive is internalized. The Educational System is the next environment in which socialization of the Prime Directive must take place. If you have viewed any of the Did You Know? videos on YouTube then you already know that our educational system is failing our youth. College level educators all across the U.S. encounter the consequences of that failure in the overwhelming number of students who come to college lacking the discipline for a successful learning process, lacking in the skills developments necessary to meet the requirements, and deficient in the motivation and desire to learn. The level of failure can not be explained in terms of the characteristics of the students. The level of failure in U.S. education can only be explained by looking to the structure and guiding principles of the institutions of learning. There is a systemic problem!

Throughout The Handbook On Being Human, vol I, Dr. M. stresses the importance of knowledge. He also points out the importance of giving our children the knowledge and tools that they need to meet the responsibility of caring for a world. Only when support staff, educators, supervisors, administrators, and students have internalized and operationalized the Prime Directive will our educational institutions be able to function efficiently, effectively, to the benefit of every student. In the Handbook Dr. M. talks about the consequences of the imbalanced distribution of knowledge and power. Education or the lack of it can create an unbridgeable gap in the status of individuals and groups that make up the human family. The Prime Directive keeps our minds focused on not simply the greater good, but the universal good.

Have you every stopped to think that we graduate students from our institutions of higher learning, after twenty or more years of education, with a Phd. or Post Graduate degree; and those students, the product of our educational process, have come out and built some of the most horrific instruments of destruction every conceived? Think about it! What kind of education nurtures the destruction of those teaching as well as those who are being taught? Science for science's sake? Knowledge for the sake of knowing? Void of the Prime Directive these ideas will lead to a darker future for our children. In the Handbook Dr. M. outlines the history of our past choices and speaks about our future based on the choices we are making now.
