NTTI Launches Leadership Development Program
for At-Risk and Disadvantaged Youth
October 1, 2003
Phoenix, Arizona Established in 1997, the
Arizona based non-profit National Teacher Training
Institute, Inc. (NTTI, Inc.) provides education,
training, and consulting services to K-12 teachers,
counselors, juvenile corrections personnel, and
other professionals working with youth. NTTI also
provides director services to at-risk and disadvantaged
youth through its Wu-Te Performance Troupes, a year-round,
after-school and summer program providing training
and mentorship to youth ages 8 18 years old.
The Wu-Te Performance Troupes is a Leadership Development
Program that uses training in the martial, healing,
gymnastic, dance, and performing arts as a means
of nurturing attitudes of discipline, confidence,
self-esteem, cooperation and teamwork, and high
ethical standards. NTTI raises funds through corporate
and private donations, and other special projects
to sponsor youth into the program. According to
the founder of NTTI, Mr. A.S. Umar Sharif, M.A.,
The Wu-Te Performance Troupes is designed
to provide opportunities to youth who would otherwise
be left out and left behind in the struggle to succeed.
Wu-Te means, striving for personal physical, mental,
spiritual, and social development. What the Wu-Te
Troupes learn and experience will have a positive
and powerful effect on them for the rest of their
lives. They will have all of the character traits
and personal power needed to emerge as leaders in
their communities, the nation, and the world.
